Twitter Impostor?
August 30, 2013
Colleen asks: Moire, I’ve been following you on Twitter and I’m not that excited about what you’ve been saying. Do you make your own tweets or does someone write them for you?”
Moire’s answer: Colleen, I have failed you! Indeed, I’ve failed the team here at MPA and all of my beloved readers. I have been farming out the job writing my own tweets and you’ve noticed. No doubt I imagine you’ve noticed because they lack a certain pussycat sass; the kind of pussycat sass that no human can replicate.
Now, for those of you who don’t know about this Twitter phenomenon, let me give you a brief history. Twitter was created in the summer of 2006. It is a social media website that promotes ‘microblogging’. These microblogs appear in the form of 140 character ‘tweets’ made by the user from his or her Twitter account. There are currently over 500 million registered Twitter users worldwide.
Over a year ago the marketing minds here at MPA decided that Yours Truly should have a Twitter account to go along with this weekly column. Now, I’m usually very fond of using new means of communication, however I’ve always had an aversion to the term ‘tweet’. (I’m sure you can understand why.) I don’t TWEET. Felines don’t TWEET. And what would I, a well-spoken, semi-brilliant intellectual be able to communicate in 140 characters? Given my resistance to this new idea I elected an MPA team member to do my tweeting for me. I thought I was too busy, too smart, and too good to use Twitter to communicate with my faithful readers. Well, you have cut me to the quick!
To remedy this situation I am taking immediate control of my Twitter account. I will, henceforth, give you a fair amount of pussycat sass straight from this pussycat on a daily basis! I apologize for my failures, and I promise you that I will never delegate my speech again.
Please, follow me on Twitter @AskMoire!
Until then, my faithful readers, remember that it isn’t always about doing what is easy, but about doing what is right.
Fondest Regards,
MOIRE
