DARE to Make a Difference

We have been a part of the DARE contest for several years running now – really as long as I can remember. It is led by the Bloomfield City Police Department, with Officer Buddy Harsch as the main champion. Each Spring they hold a contest for the 4th graders at Davis County Elementary in which each student writes an essay on what safety means to him or her. Officer Harsch and his fellow officers host a short seminar on safety, then the 4th graders have a set amount of time to write this essay. All of the essays are then read and a winner is selected. That winner is one lucky duck in that he or she gets a new computer from MPA. Safety, education and new technology – It’s really a win all around for everyone!
