Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.
Diana: And I’m Diana.
Justin: And we’re you’re hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.
Diana: We promise, it’ll be easy to digest. Well, it is Monday, we just had a weekend.
Justin: Dun, dun, dun…
Diana: [Laughs]
Justin: …yeah, it’s Monday, and you know, it’s great to be here on The Tech Table.
Diana: Yes.
Justin: It is great you know, and Mail Monday, we dive into our email inbox with some questions, and people call in these questions to our office as well.
Diana: Yeah, and they send in an email, they send it in uh…
Justin: What’s the email address? I never know.
Diana: questions@askmpa.com.
Justin: Very good. I forget that all the time.
Diana: Mm hm.
Justin: So, Carmen asked, ‘What is the best device for music while running?’
Diana: Ah, great question.
Justin: So you’re out there running, or you’re running on your treadmill, I suppose.
Diana: Walking briskly.
Justin: Yes. What is the best device for your music? You know, I remember the days of the Discman, and I remember the days of the early Discman where you put a cd in you know, and you’re listening to it while you’re, and it skipped.
Diana: Mm hm.
Justin: And it was so frustrating. That’s why I never ran. I’m kidding.
[Laughter]
Justin: But, then we got anti skip Discman…
Diana: Yes.
Justin: …and I remember how huge that was.
Diana: Big deal.
Justin: I spent $129 on, on one of those first Sony Discman that did not skip.
Diana: Yes.
Justin: It was great. I loved it. And I had huge headphones, that was so great. Yeah, takes me back. Takes me back. But, nowadays, you have your music on this little tiny little MP3 player that you take around with you. Are you still using that?
Diana: Yes.
Justin: Yeah. That’s like the original Shuffle?
Diana: Shuffle. It’s a 2nd Generation, I believe.
Justin: Yeah, Apple. Yeah, but there’s a ton of devices you know, tons of devices now, and that you don’t have to worry about skipping or anything. It’s pretty simple stuff.
Diana: Right.
Justin: Diana, I’ll let you talk about this, ‘cause you are, you are a, a brisk walker.
Diana: I am.
Justin: And you enjoy your music. So…
Diana: Yes. Yes. Um, well, really, we like to recommend a lot of Apple products, so Apple has several different iPods that they offer. There’s the, the, the Classic, which has gigabyte after gigabyte, after gigabyte of storage, and it, it’s, just, they’ve had it around for years and years, and it can just hold thousands of songs.
Justin: Right. Thousands of songs.
Diana: Thousands, yes.
Justin: Craziness.
Diana: But then, of course, if you want to do, you want something a little smaller, you have the Shuffle, which is what I have, and it clips right onto your clothing. So handy when you’re I mean, I even wear it around when I’m doing the housecleaning.
Justin: Right. Yeah. Well, and that’s one of the other things with a lot of devices, they wouldn’t stay in your pocket you know, they’d fly out of your pocket, or whatever.
Diana: Right.
Justin: So, yeah, your Nano clips on…
Diana: Mm uh, my Shuffle.
Justin: …or your Shuffle. You have a Shuffle.
Diana: Yep. Now, you, you had a Nano for awhile, and we actually got you an armband, right?
Justin: Yes. I remember that.
Diana: Put the Nano in the armband.
Justin: Yeah.
Diana: Eh?
Justin: It just didn’t. I didn’t enjoy it.
Diana: Some people, it’s really not a problem, they wear their iPods Touches, or whatever, but I think that’d be uncomfortable, so I love my Shuffle.
Justin: Yeah, it was a pain to put on. I felt like I was getting my blood pressure taken all the time with that cuff. It was just a weird thing.
Diana: Oh yeah. Now, with the iPod Touch, you are able to get Apps, and so, if you’re looking to maybe, get an App like, Runtastic, Live Strong, My Fitness Pal, something like that to help you track your calories, and or, your walking, maybe?
Justin: Right.
Diana: Like a mileage counter, thing like that.
Justin: Yeah, those, those are great.
Diana: Then, you’ll want an iPod Touch probably, because then you’ll be able to get those Apps.
Justin: So, it looks like we’re suggesting something Apple.
Diana: Yeah, generally. [Laughs]
Justin: And iPods, something iPod. Yeah, and I think that’s true, because they just store so much, you can have so many, and even the small ones store how many songs?
Diana: I think my iPod Shuffle it’s a 2 gig, and it stores about 250 songs.
Justin: Yeah, exactly. So, a lot of music for you to listen to and, you know, I watch tv while I’m on the treadmill, so I don’t really worry about it.
Diana: Yeah.
Justin: But, yeah, exactly, if you’re doing music, that’s what you want. So, send us your questions.
Diana: questions@askmpa.com.
Justin: Until next time.
Diana: Take care.
