December 6, 2013

Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise, it will be easy to digest. Get your Friday on Justin.

Justin: Yeah, it’s Friday, which means we’re gonna talk about some favorites today.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: And you asked an interesting question at our MPA office. You said you can only watch one movie in 2014, what would it be?

Diana: Yeah. We got a lot of varied responses here, some old movies, some new movies, some that hadn’t even come out yet.

Justin: Yeah, so David said any Tim Burton movie.

Diana: Ah. I’d, I’d join him.

Justin: Yeah, what are some Tim Burton movies Diana?

Diana: Oh goodness. Edward Scissor-hands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish I believe was Tim Burton.

Justin: Yep.

Diana: A lot of stuff with Johnny Depp.

Justin: Yeah, that stuff. Now Tim Burton, he did the Sweeney Todd, he directed that.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Yeah, so he does that sort of whimsical scary almost thing?

Diana: A little creepy, but.

Justin: Like, did he do Sleepy Hallow, did he do that?

Diana: Yeah, yeah, I believe so.

Justin: Yeah.

Diana: Oh, and Disney’s most recent, Alice In Wonderland. I mean it’s been a few years ago, but he did that one too. He’s partnered up with Disney on a few movies.

Justin: Yeah. Yeah, so he does that sort of whimsical, it’s not scary though.

Diana: No?

Justin: They’re just dark, I guess. Very, and there’s some comedy usually involved in there.

Diana: True.

Justin: Interesting, interesting movies, but, and a lot of fun to watch.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: David also mentioned Horrible Bosses as the funniest movie he’s seen in a long time. And it’s a pretty old movie?

Diana: Yeah well, it’s just not recent. He picked two of course, he, you know, I said one movie, and he says well, any Tim Burton and then Horrible Bosses. So, he’s not following directions first of all, but that’s okay, and, you know.

Justin: Right.

Diana: He’s CEO, so Horrible Bosses.

Justin: That’s right. Yeah, that’s kind of funny.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: Alright. And then John, our tech department mentioned some TV, again, not following directions. I think we have a theme here. These guys are not following the directions.

Diana: Well, yeah. I think maybe what that means really though is that they just like to pave their own way.

Justin: Right. And he likes Tosh Earl? I don’t even know what that is.

Diana: Yeah, I looked it up. It’s a TV series, that’s all I know.

Justin: It is.

Diana: It’s funny I guess.

Justin: Yeah, I think it might not be 100% appropriate,

Diana: Maybe not.

Justin: Probably not appropriate humor, which is probably why John likes it.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: Yeah, exactly. And then Jodie, our designer, she likes Catching Fire.

Diana: Even though she hadn’t seen it yet.

Justin: Right.

Diana: She said that would be her.

Justin: Perfect for 2014

Diana: For 2014. She just anticipates so much. And that’s the second.

Justin: Good, yeah. And you just saw Catching Fire.

Diana: Yes, it’s the second in the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Justin: Yeah.

Diana: And it was very, very good.

Justin: Yeah, great, that’s wonderful. I haven’t seen any of them, I don’t really watch movies, honestly.

Diana: No, that’s true.

Justin: No, I really don’t.

Diana: But you do agree that they’re very good. Some are very very good.

Justin: Well, yeah. Film is amazing. Don’t get me started, I could like, talk about philosophy behind film and, okay, anyway.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: All right. And then Tim, also in our tech department said Fight Club.

Diana: Oh, that’s an intense one. I have not seen it in it’s entirety, just parts, and I don’t know that I’d want to watch that for a whole year. But he said that it has a lot of layers, and every moment counts in that movie, so he wouldn’t get bored.

Justin: Yeah, I, yeah, I don’t know anything about it. Other, I do know that some kids formed a fight club after seeing it. I saw that happen.

Diana: oh, not good.

Justin: That was not good, no. And then you of course, this is totally opposite of Fight Club.

Diana: Yeah, Beauty and the Beast. It’s been my favorite movie ever since I saw it in I think, third grade.

Justin: Right.

Diana: I will watch that. You know that. Yes.

Justin: Absolutely. Yeah, it’s a great, great film, and a beautiful score, very Disney, you know. It’s a beautiful name.

Diana: Yeah. So how about you Justin? What would you pick?

Justin: Well, you know, I just don’t watch movies, so.

Diana: But if you had to?

Justin: If I had to, okay, if I had to watch a movie what movie would it be in? You know, I honestly have no idea. I’ve really, there is.

Diana: Probably whatever I’m watching, right?

Justin: Probably whatever you’re watching. That would be true. So, maybe you guys can catch a good movie this weekend, either in the theaters or you know, on your Netflix or wherever. But, until next time.

Diana: Take care.
