July 18, 2014
Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.
Diana: And I’m Diana.
Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.
Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest.
Justin: Well it’s Friday, Diana.
Diana: Yes, it is Friday, and I think we’re all rejoicing about it.
Justin: Yes, it’s great, great, great Friday. It’s great Friday.
[LAUGHTER]
Justin: I don’t know what that even means but I’m just happy. I’m so happy that it’s Friday.
Diana: It’s a great day.
Justin: But you always go around asking everyone their Friday Faves, which of course if you use Twitter or even Facebook you can use #FF for Friday Faves.
Diana: Yes.
Justin: And so, this time you went around the office asking everyone what is in your CD player or on your MP3 player right now.
Diana: Yeah, and a couple things before we go through the answers.
Justin: Yes.
Diana: The reason I thought about this was because I remember, you know, growing up, I’d do some work outside, sometimes painting something or working in the garden or something like that.
Justin: Sure.
Diana: And I couldn’t just do it in the quiet, I always had to have music. And so I’d be blasting the stereo.
Justin: That’s true, yeah. You’re not one of the people. However, at night you don’t like to have music because you can’t sleep.
Diana: No, I can’t sleep with it.
Justin: For me it’s completely opposite. I like quiet when I have…I mean, during the day I like quiet, and then I like music to sleep to.
Diana: Yeah, no, doesn’t work for me.
Justin: Yeah…
Diana: And who wins?
Justin: You do.
Diana: [LAUGHS].
Justin: Very good. So, we asked around the office. First you asked Moire, our wonderful cat.
Diana: Moire was feeling left out so he’s getting included, now, on all these questions.
Justin: And Moire replied that he has in his MP3 player right now, the Spice Girls greatest hits, and he says don’t judge.
[LAUGHTER]
Justin: So I don’t know what that means, but he’s a Spice Girls fan.
Diana: Yes, and they’re always getting back together, supposedly, and then they’re not.
Justin: Yeah, those Spice Girls, they were huge when I was in high school.
Diana: Oh man, yeah.
Justin: John, in tech, says Bad Company, by Five Finger Death Punch.
Diana: Oh boy [LAUGHS].
Justin: Five Finger Death Punch. I’m looking at my fingers.
Diana: It’s a fist I guess
Justin: Is it a fist?
Diana: I don’t know.
Justin: But that’s not what…that’s not your…I mean, you have a thumb and four fingers, right?
Diana: I don’t know, it just sounds scary.
Justin: It sounds kind of violent.
Diana: [LAUGHS]
Justin: But you know, he’s a get it done kind of guy over there in tech.
Diana: Yeah, yeah.
Justin: Great. Now Jodie…what did Jodie say?
Diana: Bon Iver.
Justin: What is Bon Iver?
Diana: Well, and I’m not sure, it might be Bon Iver…I’m not sure how to pronounce it
Justin: Oh.
Diana: But he’s very popular right now.
Justin: Yeah she’s a trend setter.
Diana: Yeah, yeah.
Justin: Or a trend follower, maybe she’s a trend follower.
Diana: I don’t want to say Americana, but kind of Folk…Folk/Pop.
Justin: I don’t know. Okay. And then Nathan, in tech, says an easier question would be what is not in my MP3 player right now.
Diana: My kind of guy right there.
Justin: Yeah a little bit of everything, and I think you’ll find that with a lot of people. Depending on their mood they listen to many different things.
Diana: Yeah, now David has been listening to a lot of country lately.
Justin: Right.
Diana: Yeah, he cites Florida Georgia Lime.
Justin: Right, which…I’m sure…
Diana: Eh, it’s arguable if that’s country.
Justin: Well I know a lot of listeners would say is that really country? I don’t know.
Diana: Pop/Country. New country.
Justin: Alright, and then Donnie, at the front desk, says…what does he say? A custom playlist filled with club music, because you gotta keep dancing.
Diana: There ya go.
Justin: That’s very Donnie. Yeah, and he enjoys it. At the front desk, in the morning, we always come in and there’s dance music…
Diana: That’s true.
Justin: …like club dance music playing.
Diana: Which I love. It gets my day going, you know?
Justin: Yeah, before the customers come in.
Diana: Right.
Justin: It tends to mellow when the customers come in.
Diana: Yes, yeah. So essentially he’s got like a…oh what do they call it when you make…a mix tape. [LAUGHS].
Justin: Right, exactly. And then Chris has been rediscovering music from college, which most recently was Joshua Tree by U2.
Diana: Good stuff.
Justin: Enjoy. So take a nice drive and listen to some music this weekend. Until next time…
Diana: Take care.
