Essay on BAD BEHAVIOR

September 20, 2013

Our resident smarty-cat has written an essay on BAD BEHAVIOR:

In recent months I have had my attention pulled, without my consent mind you, to certain acts of debauchery that are becoming more and more the ‘norm’ of our society. I’ve had enough. ENOUGH.
First it was the spectacle that was “SNOOKI“, a reality starlet on some mindless MTV show, and most recently Miley Cyrus and her “twerking” incident on the VMA awards. (You’Il notice I refuse to provide a link here.) If you don’t know what I am talking about, consider yourself lucky. If you do know what I am talking about, then you surely understand my concern over the state of our culture. What is happening when individuals (feline, canine, and human) act, very publicly, in a highly inappropriate way? Is this leadership for the next generation? I think not.

I was recently discussing the seeming downward turn our society has taken with the mother of a young child. I encouraged her to use some of these pop culture icons to show her daughter what NOT TO BECOME! Show her these people and their lurid behavior and coach her that it is not the norm, not to be expected, and really not even tolerable.

There is hope. I have heard from several young people via facebook and Twitter who are dismayed and saddened over some of these stars’ behaviors. This gives me hope for the next generation. While some may pattern their own behavior after these ‘idols’, many seem to be looking forward and understanding that this kind of lifestyle choice doesn’t provide a solid foundation for success in the future.

Maybe someday kids will poster their rooms with photos of scientists, doctors, and writers, but until then, we can hope that Miley might learn a thing or two from her less famous, but much more grounded, peer group.

Until next time my friends, while twerking might be good exercise, it certainly doesn’t need to be done on live television.

Fondest Regards,

MOIRE

Moire The Cat

I am a cat. A cat that has done more, seen more, and been more than most men will ever know. My pedigree is defined by modest lineage but I have risen to be one of the finest. One of the most humble, modest, handsome, intelligent, regal, charming, and cunning felines you may ever meet. I often have 'run-ins' with the MPA tight-wad, fun-hater COO, Justin over such things as spa visits and luxury grooming. Having a cat with the skills I possess is not in-expensive. I don't come with a manual and there is no 'figuring me out'. I write a weekly column called "ASK MOIRE" where my faithful readership gets advice and suggestions for a healthy, more balanced life by sending questions to this email address: MOIRE@ASKMPA.COM
