Moiré in the Music City – Part I
November 15, 2013
What a glorious trip to Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capitol of the world! If you don’t know by now, MPA has a marketing/branding client, Mitch Goudy, who seems to be the new hot thing in country music (he’s not as good-looking as he thinks, if you ask me… but his music is tolerable). At any rate, he requested I accompany him to some meetings in the revered Music City a few weeks back, as he knows my list of industry contacts is quite long. Little did I know that our little business trip would end up with me single-‘paw’-edly saving the CMA awards telecast.
The adventure began when a member of Mitch’s public relations team invited us to a CMA week social gathering held at a very exclusive Nashville address. During the event, one of the CMA show hosts (I will use a fictitious name here to protect her identity), Ms. Sherrie Overlog, and I had a conversation I found to be very interesting. She told me of a concern she had regarding her dresses arriving in time for the proper final alterations to be completed prior to the show taping. (Apparently the dresses were coming in from a design studio in London and there had been some sort of delay.) Ms. Overlog was, understandably, very concerned at the prospect of not having her couture garments fitted to her couture figure. I tried to re-assure her with a cracker and glass of sparkling water, but she simply couldn’t be calmed.
As someone who has a good degree of expertise in almost every area, I quickly thought to myself, “Do I know anyone who could help out in a pinch if needed?” After a quick phone call – and equipped with a plan in mind – I gave Ms. Overlog my personal iPhone number with the promise to come to her rescue if the dresses didn’t arrive promptly the next morning. With the event happening in less than 24 hours, there wouldn’t be a minute to waste…
Will Sherrie’s gowns arrive in time? Will Moiré need to intervene, saving the day as usual? Read Part II for the rest of the tale!
[…] Shelly, thanks for writing in. I see you follow my travels, thank you for that! I do find myself venturing around the country quite frequently. Many believe that traveling is a headache, and I agree – IF you don’t […]
