Justin: Welcome to to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin…

Diana: …and I’m Diana…

Justin: … and we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise, it’ll be easy to digest.

Justin: It’s Monday. How are you, Diana?

Diana: I’m still a little cold.

Justin: Oh yes, I know. You’re going to be cold for the next four months. We’re in Iowa.

Diana: Yeah, until March or April.

Justin: That’s what’s going to happen. So, it’s Mail Day, it’s Mail Monday. I’m trying to get a little motivated this week. Trying to, last week, I was a little bit grumpy.

Diana: Like Grumpy Cat?

Justin: Like Grumpy Cat took over or something, but I didn’t just look grumpy. I was grumpy. So, I’m trying. It’s a new week and I’m trying to feel refreshed and revived and all of that, so I thinking about my new iPhone, because it still hasn’t come yet, but that’s a whole other story. I guess it’s really popular and so they’re kind of backlogged and I might get it who knows when. But, it’ll come and it’ll surprise me.

Diana: Yeah. It’ll be like Christmas Day.

Justin: It will, it will.

Diana: Hopefully not. Hopefully it won’t actually be Christmas Day.

Justin: Yeah, I really hope not. So, there are new iPhones right now, the 5c and the 5s, and the 5c, everyone’s excited about because it gives you some color options: yellow, green, blue, pink and white. And we’re talking about this today because several people have actually emailed in asking us the differences between the 5c and 5s.

Diana: Yeah, which one they should get.

Justin: Right, yeah, so there’s all those color options in the 5c and then it’s a whole new look and feel to how you use an iPhone. It’s got the same operating system and everything as the 5s, however, you get a polycarbonate plastic case.

Diana: Right, so that’s different.

Justin: Right, yeah, and it’s not ordinary plastic. It has an aluminum shell on the inside to make it sturdy and resist breaking so that Apple quality to it that everyone loves.

Diana: A little bit more fun.

Justin: Right, the 5c is the new cheaper option, the less expensive would be the right thing to saying. It’s $99-$199.

Diana: Right, and that basically depends on your storage, right?

Justin: Yes, yeah, and then the 5s is more your standard iPhone. It’s the new one with all the bells and whistles and it’s $199-$399.

Diana: Right, so you can drop some serious dough on that.

Justin: Right, but don’t they say the actual retail? Don’t they actually pretend that it’s actually $750 or something like that? But, no one ever pays that much for it, I don’t think?

Diana: Right, so I don’t know what it really is.

Justin: If you have paid retail, if you have paid $750 for one, I’d like to hear that, so send an email. What’s the email address?

Diana: questions@askmpa.com. And you can send us any of your questions or comments, thoughts.

Justin: Absolutely. But if you paid $750 for an iPhone, I’d really like to hear that.

Diana: We want to hear about it.

Justin: Absolutely. So, the 5s comes in a few different colors. The usual, the slate color, which is like black, and then the gray, whcih is like silver, a lot of people call it silver. Some people call it gray. I think that’s interesting. And then, gold, which is kind of a muted gold, it’s not like like bright gold, but it’s a gold color. And, the one I ordered is gold, which is why it’s backordered, because it’s very, very popular now. So, yeah, how else, Diane, are these phones different?

Diana: Well, the 5s is faster. It has a faster processor and it also has the motion co-processor, which is really great for motion-sensitive apps like exercise apps, gaming. So, it’s a little bit different with the processor.

Justin: Right, and that would make sense because the 5s is the more expensive version.

Diana: Right. You also get more storage, generally, with your 5s. 64GB, while the 5c just has 16GB and 32GB options.

Justin: Excellent, so that’s a great, great question. Several of you were wondering about that, so there’s some more about those new iPhones. Feel free to send us more questions and until next time…

Diana: Take care!
