Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.
Diana: And I’m Diana.
Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.
Diana: We promise, it’ll be easy to digest. Well, hello Justin.
Justin: Hello Diana.
Diana: It’s Thursday.
Justin: It is Thursday.
Diana: I beat ya.
Justin: You did beat me. Alright, so, you know, Good Friday is coming up here, and Easter, so of course, with it being Easter, we’re gonna talk about eggs, because that’s really important now. I know, I’m being, I know, as a kid I created eggs and all that.
Diana: Sure, and we did Easter egg hunts. It’s a big tradition.
Justin: It’s a tradition…
Diana: Yes.
Justin: …but, in my opinion…
Diana: No, it’s not the reason for the season, so to say.
Justin: No, it’s not the reason for the season. There is some, I mean like, people come up with the religious part of, to eggs and Easter.
Diana: Yeah, birth, and a new, new day.
Justin: Yeah, a new life, yeah. I think that’s sketchy.
Diana: [Laughs]
Justin: But anyway, that’s just me.
Diana: It’s…
Justin: I think egg decorating’s great, that’s fine, the kids love it, I know.
Diana: Well, and you know, it’s springtime, so.
Justin: It is, it’s more of a, let’s call it a springtime, rather than an Easter thing, let’s call it a springtime activity, egg decorating.
Diana: Mm hm.
Justin: There we go. I feel better about that.
Diana: Okay.
Justin: Good. Alright. We pulled these from Reader’s Digest, because we can’t come up with our own material, so [Laughter]. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. We did pull these from Reader’s Digest though, we love Reader’s Digest. I use to read this at my grandma’s house it was in big print.
Diana: Oh yeah.
Justin: She have the big print version, It was great.
Diana: I liked all the jokes.
Justin: Now you just go online and if you want bigger print you just like…
Diana: Mm hm. Zoom.
Justin: …you know, make it bigger, yeah. Alright, so, I don’t really know anything about this, it’s been years, so hit it, Diana.
Diana: Okay. So, there’s a lot of different ways that you can decorate eggs, if you like to you know, dye them…
Justin: Mm hm?
Diana: You can leave one side white and then paint on the names and use the eggs for place cards for Easter dinner.
Justin: Wow.
Diana: Yeah.
Justin: That’s, yeah, sounds interesting.
Diana: Here’s another cool thing, coat your eggs with a layer of chalkboard paint. Now, I’ve really been interested in chalkboard paint for years. I’ve not used it yet, but I’ve been very intrigued by it and I want, I want to use it, just never have.
Justin: Right.
Diana: So, anyway, so coat, coat your egg with the chalkboard paint, and then you can just use chalk to write on it, to draw on it.
Justin: Right, and now they have, you know, me and my, in my simple mind over here, I’m thinking, oh, white chalk, this is going to be really exciting, but of course, now they have…
Diana: Oh, all sorts of colors.
Justin: …there’s many colors of chalk, I mean, there’s even sparkly chalk [inaudible].
Diana: If you mess up, or you wanna change your design, just erase it.
Justin: Yeah, there ya go.
Diana: Yeah.
Justin: Alright, now, oh, here’s another Easter theme, Lick and Stick Tattoos. That’s fantastic.
Diana: Okay, temporary tattoos.
Justin: Okay, temporary tattoos, they’re a lot of fun, I know.
Diana: Yes, they are.
Justin: So, on your Easter eggs, you put these on your Easter eggs?
Diana: Yes, they just go right on there like they do on your skin.
Justin: That’s interesting.
Diana: Just temporary little things.
Justin: Huh.
Diana: You can use a black permanent marker to create trendy black and white patterned eggs. Won’t work on brown eggs, but you could do some cool brown and black.
Justin: You could, that’s interesting.
Diana: Designs.
Justin: Sure. Yeah.
Diana: Yeah.
Justin: Glue patterned ribbon around solid dyed eggs. Oh my goodness, is Martha Stewart in the room?
Diana: Get some googly eyes.
Justin: Yeah, I see Martha Stewart. I’m sure she’s done some crazy things with the eggs, right?
Diana: Yes, I’m sure.
Justin: Yeah.
Diana: Now, if you do have the brown eggs, which I get those a lot, farm fresh brown eggs.
Justin: Yeah, you get the farm fresh brown eggs, which are fantastic.
Diana: You can skip the dye, and just tie small flowers and little bunches of herb using baker’s twine. Just tie it around there, try it with forsythia, or violet buds, rosemary, thyme. Creates a very simple, aromatic Easter display.
Justin: Right, so it’s just, it’s really not for the kids.
Diana: That one probably, not so much.
Justin: That’s an interesting thing. So, it’s basically, like potpourri?
Diana: Mm hm.
Justin: Interesting. Very cool. Yeah, so, you can look at all of these things at Reader’s Digest website, which is rd.com.
Diana: Yeah, head over there.
Justin: Absolutely, and don’t forget the real reason for Easter, even when you’re painting your eggs, and having a great time with the kids.
Justin: Until next time.
Diana: Take care.
