Justin: Welcome to Mpa’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.
Diana: And, I’m Diana.
Justin: We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.
Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest. We’ll hello Justin.
Justin: Hello Diana, It’s Thursday.
Diana: It is Theme Thursday.
Justin: Theme Thursday, yes here on the Tech Table. We’re gonna talk about lent.
Diana: We’ll it’s that season.
Justin: It is. It’s the lent in season which if you don’t know what it is. Many Christian denominations observe lent by asking members to give something up for lent.
Diana: Right, right.
Justin: It’s just about a sacrifice basically.
Diana: Have you ever done this before.
Justin: and a time of renewal. Have I done this before?
Diana: Yeah, have you?
Justin: No.
Diana: Never given anything up.
Justin: No, I don’t think so.
Diana: See, I grew up and my step mother was Catholic, practicing Catholic and she took it pretty seriously so we would give things up but it didn’t really last usually in our household.
Justin: No, well I think that’s typical with a lot of people and now we may get some emails saying we give up something for all of lent but
Diana: sure, a lot of people do very successfully.
Justin: Right, ya so what were suggesting, I don’t know why because we’re a technology company.
Diana: [laugh]
Justin: But we’re suggesting a technology fast.
Diana: Maybe just to give those devices and gadgets a break.
Justin: Yeah, I don’t know who came up with this but I guess you could. What benefit is there in a technology fast.
Diana: Well, really you could eliminate the use of your cell-phones. Smart phones. E-readers, Ipods, tablets between certain times of the day.
Justin: Oh, this is a creative lent in suggestion
Diana: Well sure because maybe those are your prime times to use those but they’re also the prime times that you should be maybe spending with your family or working on career advancements.
Justin: Oh, that’s interesting so it’s like so its basically giving up a bad habit in which you use your technology. So like maybe for forty days you should try not using your phone.
Diana: at dinner.
Justin: At dinner, right, People do that, how rude is that. Oh no, I do not like that using you phones over meals it’s ridiculous so yeah you could do that. What other things could we do.
Diana: You mean instead of the technology.
Justin: Well, sure.
Diana: So like I said, spending time with your family.
Justin: That’s a good thing.
Diana: Going on a date-night
Justin: Oh, is that a hint?
Diana: Always.
Justin: You’re looking at me with those eyes that say hint, hint, hint. We do need to do that more often.
Diana: We do, we don’t get out enough together.
Justin: Unfortunately, I gave up eating out for lent though.
Diana: [Laugh]
Justin: Yeah we should.
Diana: We could go bowling.
Justin: That’d be fun, bowling’s good. Alright
Diana: And our listeners are tuning out because.
Justin: They are. What else Diana, what else could you do here. Well, people give out potato chips. People give out bad food habits for lent.
Diana: Sure.
Justin: I mean anything that makes your life better, I mean that’s what lent’s about.
Diana: Yes.
Justin: Is about giving up things. So if you give up your bad technology habit. You give up your bad eating habit. Give up a bad spending habit. Give up a bad relationship habit.
Diana: Biting your nails.
Justin: I have some friends who should take that advice.
Diana: Oh
Justin: I’m just kidding, so give up biting your nails. Right, there are bad habits everywhere so there are a ton of things that you should give up for lent.
Diana: It’s about the sacrifice though if you know come back to that. If you give up one pop a day or something.
Justin: It’s interesting and we’d like to hear what your lent and sacrifices are. What you observe for lent so feel free to send those in to.
Diana: Questions@askMpa.com
Justin: Absolutely, we’d like to hear that, so until next time.
