Justin: Welcome to MPA’s TechTable. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise: it’ll be easy to digest.

Justin: It’s Friday.

Diana: That’s right.

Justin: It’s your favorite day of the week.

Diana: Yeah. Usually is.

Justin: I would say many people favorite day of the week probably.

Diana: There’s just so much promise.

Justin: Promise for a fun weekend and then the week next week. Today we’re talking about some favorite holiday traditions.

Diana: Yes, yes. Of course we keep saying this, but we have the holidays approaching. Fast.

Justin: We do. If you didn’t notice you’re behind a little. We’re going to talk about some holiday traditions that are the favorites of some of the MPA people in the office. One of my favorite traditions is always attending some sort of small town lighting ceremony. I really love that moment because it’s usually Thanksgiving evening or the day after and you flip the switch and all the lights come on. It’s just a small town thing. Big cities have them too, obviously. The White House has the tree lighting and Rockefeller Center and those. But a tree lighting, lighting of the town square, is really cool. I always like to do that. That’s one of my traditions. What other traditions?

Diana: Something I like, it’s a little less grand, would be at Thanksgiving dinner, going around the table and each person says something big that they have been thankful for the past year or at the moment, whatever. That’s nice to reflect upon and share with everyone.

Justin: That’s a great tradition: going around the table and…Would you do that after the meal or before it?

Diana: Usually I’ve done it before, I believe.

Justin: So you say grace first and then you do the…

Diana: No, I think it’s thanks and then grace. But you can do it however you want.

Justin: See, I’m worried about the turkey getting cold over there.

Diana: Oh. Just keep that on the warmer.

Justin: I don’t think so. I think once that is one the table I don’t think about anything else. But I do like that tradition of thankful sharing. All right. This is something I have no idea what this is but you said Chris at the office talks about a soup exchange.

Diana: Yeah. He mentioned to me that a big meal…It’s a big undertaking. I mean, I know my grandparents and parents work really hard on those meals. They’re so delicious but they take a lot of time and a lot of work. Something in the Ball family that they’ve been doing is actually taking soup; each person that comes to the dinner brings a soup. It’s ready made, it’s prepared, ready to go and they’ve been having fun with it in recent years trying to come up with really interesting soups that they’ve never had before.

Justin: Interesting. That’s a cool idea, actually. I think that would be a lot of fun.

Diana: Yes. And there’s really not that much work involved for any one person especially.

Justin: Absolutely. That sounds like a great idea. All right. Here’s something unrelated to that but a favorite gadget that John, who’s our tech leader, came up with at the office. He came across a holographic keyboard for iPhone and Android. It’s a small holographic emitter that connects to the device via Bluetooth and projects the keyboard on a hard surface such as a desk or a table. They’ve been out for a couple years he says but he just found it.

Diana: He just stumbled upon it.

Justin: Exactly. So it’s a holographic keyboard. That’s interesting. That’s scary. Next, I’ll be a holograph. What do you think about that?

Diana: Scary.

Justin: Think about that over the weekend.

Diana: All right.
