Justin: Welcome to NPA’s Tech table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it will be easy to digest. Well hello there Justin.

Justin: Hello Diana. I’m already making you smile today on Thursday?

Diana: Yes. You make me smile a lot.

Justin: Well that’s nice, thank you for that. So it’s theme Thursday here on the Tech Table. We’re going to talk about camping hacks.

Diana: Oh, that makes sense.

Justin: What’s a hack again? You’ll like these hacks.

Diana: I love hacks.

Justin: Like life hacker and all these things.

Diana: Yeah. Yeah, hacks are basically just things that help you do life better, do tasks better.

Justin: Sure.

Diana: And just like short cuts.

Justin: Right. So it’s like an easy button.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: I know I’m probably borrowing that from a trademark and probably going to get sued now.

Diana: Uh oh.

Justin: Uh oh.

Diana: Camping.

Justin: Yeah, cause summer’s just around the corner. I mean, I would say it’s here. Really for most people it feels here.

Diana: It feels like summer.

Justin: Yeah, you know. Many people are preparing to head out on vacation, and so we wanted to help.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: You know, we like to be helpful here, and so we’ve compiled a short list of camping hacks.

Diana: Yeah. So if you like to make foil packs with ground beef and veggies, you can line the inside of the foil with some cabbage leaves. That keeps things moist, and prevents sticking to the foil.

Justin: That can be good. And also adding sage to your campfire may help keep the bugs away.

Diana: Oh, that is awesome.

Justin: Yeah, because everyone is always trying to keep bugs away, and there are some natural, you’ve been talking about that lately.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Some natural bug deterrents I guess.

Diana: Yes. As I get older, I find the need to, you know, find more natural products a lot.

Justin: Yeah, that’s great. I would just say give me the Off. And I’d spray it everywhere. Covered in Off.

Diana: Well, that works too.

Justin: I like Off, it always works. Alright, and this looks like your life hack.

Diana: Oh.

Justin: This looks like a Diana thing here. S’moreos?

Diana: S’moreos.

Justin: S’moreos. So you open an Oreo, put in a roasted marshmallow and a slab of chocolate, and put it back together.

Diana: That sounds heavenly.

Justin: Yeah, you’re a big fan of traditional S’mores.

Diana: And Oreos. You put them together, that’s amazing.

Justin: Yeah, there you go.

Diana: I’ve never heard of this.

Justin: You have to try it.

Diana: My mind is blown.

Justin: There you go. Alright, what’s the next one?

Diana: I see, make a whistle out of an acorn cap. Detailed instructions can be found by googling, whistle using an acorn cap.

Justin: That’s interesting.

Diana: Yeah!

Justin: That’s a little crafty thing you can do.

Diana: Yeah, a little crafty thing.

Justin: That sounds like fun. You can also use a plastic coffee can to keep your toilet paper, that’s interesting.

Diana: Or a CD spindle.

Justin: Or a CD spindle. Now that’s true.

Diana: Yeah. If it fits. You just gotta make sure it’s big enough. Can’t use like a ten pack spindle.

Justin: Basically put, apparently, whoever came up with all these is not camping, my idea of camping is in a fifty foot, two million dollar RV. But apparently these people are roughing it a little bit more than that.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: Cause that’s what I was thinking as I was looked at this, you know, keeping your toilet, and I’m like, well the bathroom in my RV has a toilet paper holder, and I’m like, what are you talking about? I don’t know.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: That’s my idea of roughing it. But you know I’ve never slept in a tent.

Diana: Wow.

Justin: I know. It’s crazy. I have a friend who says we’re gonna do this eventually cause it’s something you have to experience.

Diana: Yeah, but he’s been saying that for like, fifteen years.

Justin: It’s true, it’s true. Probably not gonna happen. I don’t know, I don’t have a problem with it, it sounds great, I’ve just never done it.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: All right, here’s another one along those lines. Use tic tac boxes for spices.

Diana: Brilliant, brilliant.

Justin: That’s cute.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: And then use an empty laundry detergent container as a hand washing station.

Diana: Perfect.

Justin: Again in your two million dollar RV.

Diana: Right.

Justin: Very fun.

Diana: Two million. Whoa.

Justin: I’ve well, we go out of town.

Diana: That’s a good one.

Justin: I know your tastes. Anyway, so enjoy your camping. We’ll have to do camping hacks for if you’re running around in a two million dollar RV.

Diana: Sounds great.

Justin: Until next time.

Diana: Take care.
